Q. Why is LaunchPad Free?
LaunchPad is "Addware". The trade off for use is that a small area of your screen displays information that we want you to see.
This is very common in "freeware" software, although frequently the result is so abrasive and annoying that people don't use the software anymore!
LaunchPad will remain a LOW IMPACT advertising portal. It is not our intention to distract you with pop-ups or audio driven content because we're not dumb! We know you can uninstall LaunchPad at any time so we will respect your admin "space".
Q. Why use LaunchPad as a promotion tool instead of selling it?
We get very positive feedback about our Email Newsletter. We have customers surfing our homepage just to check for new products. It seems that getting word out about new products and promotions is all we need to do to make sales!
With that in mind, putting aside the sales potential of LaunchPad and focusing on the long term marketing opportunity makes good business sense.
Q. Does this make my admin space much smaller?
Not really. LaunchPad includes the buttons Main - Docs - Support and Logout that are usually in the TOP frame panel so the normal top frame can is dropped. The net result is that the difference in size of your normal admin area is minimal.
Q. What if there are Updates for LaunchPad?
The "MivaCentral Update" panel will tell you if you don't have the latest version of LaunchPad and give you a link to the download page for the update.
Q. What about Upgrades to Miva Merchant?
LaunchPad is treated just like any other module during the Upgrade Process.
Q. My Miva Admin is different from the standard one. Can I still use LaunchPad?
We don't know of any standard installs that use the same files as LaunchPad but it is possible that there are integrators or hosts out there who have already changed these files to customize Miva Merchant Admin. If this is the case, you must choose between LaunchPad and whatever benefits your current installation gives you.
Q. How do I Uninstall LaunchPad
You can uninstall LaunchPad just like any other module. The difference is that again, you will have to Logout and Login again to your admin to see the change take effect. The uninstall proceedure is:

Q. What if I have multiple Store on the same domain?
If you have multiple stores, LaunchPad defaults to the first one on startup, but in the QuickFind picklist which usually just contains Orders / Category / Product, a "Switch To Store" option is added.
eg. If you have a store 1 called "Nuts" and a store 2 called "Bolts" then the QuickFind form will include:
Orders
Category
Product
Store -> Bolts
If you select Store -> Bolts and click Go, then this store will become the "Current" store.
